Fabulous destination beach weddings in sunny Cancun, Mexico
Beautiful and infamous Cancun really started it all, and became a highly sought after place for destination weddings early on. Hoards of wedding photographers flock to Cancun every year, and there's a reason why... the water doesn't get any more photogenic! Cancun, Mexico has been a premier vacation spot for sunshine seekers and romance lovers for decades. It is home to the Mayan Riviera's only international airport, making it a quick and easy destination to those coming from the US and Canada. Cancun has become a large metropolis and has almost everything an American city has in terms of convenience and commodities. The resort strip is a turquoise beach lined peninsula, with a beautiful lagoon on the other side. The all-inclusive resorts in Cancun are large, towering and have some pretty impressive pools and idyllic beach wedding locations. There are endless tours, shopping, restaurants and night life in Cancun too! You can also take a quick day trip to the fabulous little Island of Isla Mujeres if you'd like to slow down the pace from the big city.
Avenida Kukulkan is the main drag in Cancun. In recent years, they've made it to not only be a destination for nightclubs, shopping, resorts and restaurants, but also a nice path to jog or ride a bike and take in the scenery. Kulkankan is a serpent diety of the Mayan gods, and you might find an actually serpent nearby, as the street is centered between the lagoon and the ocean. You might see a "Cuidado Cocodrillos" (caution crocodiles) sign, so keep your eyes peeled but don't worry too much!
You can also take in the views from the city's look-out point, Torre Escenica. From there you can see the beautiful, resort dotted coast line and the unique colored waters to Isla Mujeres and it's coast.
If you're looking for nearby Mayan ruins in the Cancun area and don't want to make the long trip to Chichen Itza or Coba, check out El Rey ruins, Scorpion's Temple, Centro Ceremonial Kohunlich or Yamil Lu'um.
